Our Distinctives

Catalyzing Black Missional Cohesion

Cyrene Connect distinguishes itself by emphasizing the importance of Afrocentric gospel solidarity among the African diaspora faith community. It recognizes the diversity within the body of Christ while prioritizing the engagement of Black American and African diaspora church leaders in gospel-centered, incarnational ministry. The organization fosters a yearning among individuals to embody a unique Black Christian expression of the gospel by collaborating in mission work with others of African descent, aiming to make a significant impact on the world.

Cyrene Connects goes above and beyond to support gospel workers of color, ensuring they feel motivated to continue making a meaningful difference in the communities they serve. Our purposeful collaboration with global care professionals of African descent creates a sustainable network that offers support for our targeted cross-cultural workers.

Cyrene Connects takes significant effort to assist in the identity formation of youth of African descent by providing cross-cultural experiences that allows them to discover their life purpose in Christ. We have an intense, life-changing program for teens and young adults in the African context that is meant to prepare them to be global citizens through missional discipleship and meaningful cross-cultural involvement.

Our Guiding Beliefs

God

We believe that God eternally exists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections. Although their eternal relationship is inscrutable, there is no priority or superiority among the three persons.

We believe the whole Bible is inspired in the sense that holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the very words of Scripture. This divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all parts of the writings as they appeared in the original manuscripts. Therefore, the whole Bible, in the originals, is without error. As the revelation of God, we believe the Bible to be the sole authority and sufficiency of Christian faith and practice.

We believe that man was created in the image and after the likeness of God. Adam fell through sin, and consequently, he lost his spiritual life. This spiritual death, or total depravity of human nature, has been transmitted to the entire human race. Without divine grace, all humanity is fundamentally sinful from birth.

We believe that, due to universal death through sin, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless born again. Our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made to be sin and was made a curse for us by dying in our place.

We believe the Body of Christ is made up of all those redeemed by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We also believe in the local church as the body of believers in a geographic locale who meet to worship and serve God together, observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and work together to further the gospel of Christ.

We believe the explicit message and mandate of our Lord Jesus Christ is to make disciples of all the nations. We believe Jesus commands us to “Go and make disciples of all the nations”; we are called to be witnesses to “the remotest parts of the earth.” We believe the greatest responsibility and privilege of the church is to serve as ambassadors and witnesses for Christ.
